A month ago, I was invited to speak about Digital Entrepreneurship at the International Telugu Women's Day event organized by the Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) in conjunction with the celebration of the International Women's day. TAM is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation for people of Telugu origin residing in Malaysia. The event featured speakers from Malaysia, Singapore, India and the United States of America discussing an array of topics relating to empowerment of women on all fronts.

It was a timely call for me as I was in the midst of launching the #WomenInDigital initiative under The Fast Mode and I thought that this event would make a good platform to gauge the readiness of women in embracing digital technologies as means to improve household incomes and enhance the community's overall economic standing.

The following video (in English and Telugu) covers my speech. The entire video is about 35 minutes long with the first 25% talking about my life journey and my take on some of the key decisions I made in my early life. The second and third quarters talk about digital entrepreneuership and discuss the opportunities that abound in this information era and how women all over the globe are being empowered in a major way via digital technologies. The last quarter of the video zooms into some of the micro-economic issues within the Telugu community in Malaysia that stand in the way for continuous economic progress.

Moving forward, I will be launching the #WomenInDigital initiative for all women. This initiative cuts across all layers of the society regardless of the education background, race or nationality and will be aimed at creating awareness among women on how we can leverage technology to enhance our economic well-being. In the meantime, do enjoy and video and share it out. Please note that I used both English and Telugu interchangeably as the audience were predominantly Telugu/English speakers.

Apart from the video, here are some snaps from the event.
